The Women's History Month Project - Day #10
Today, we are celebrating this fun and delightful woman
Denise Reiff – 54, Mama of two beautiful girls, Bride to my soul mate, Realtor, Administrative Assistant, free spirited, and passionate.
Denise spent the majority of her childhood in Charlestown, NH, growing up in a little home where her dad and mom still reside. She has one brother, Phil, who is 1 ½ years older than her. Having a flair for fashion, she moved to Portland, Maine in 1985 to attend Westbrook College’s Fashion Merchandising Program. Denise would often go back “home” to visit mom and dad on holidays, summer breaks and occasional weekends.
As the years went on, her family size quickly grew to include spouses, children, great-grandparents, in-laws, aunts/uncles and even the welcoming of many foster children. Over the years, the basement in her mom and dad's tiny ranch was finished, bunk beds were added, bedrooms were built and a beautiful sunroom became a new welcome addition. The little home was bursting at the seams to accommodate her family gatherings, year after year, and became the essential “grammy and grampa’s house”.
Throughout the years, that quaint one-bath, three-bedroom ranch has accommodated weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties, holiday events and numerous family gatherings with endless hours of playing games, baking, crafts, puzzles, road trips and driving around endlessly looking at Christmas lights with “grampa”.
In that tiny home in Charlestown, NH, memories were built year-after-year. Their love for family strengthened. Their bonds deepened. Their memories bursting with love, laugher, and togetherness all created in that tiny little place they all now call “home”.
At the age of 54, she can honestly say that her passion for life is her family and creating memories. She have learned that home is where your heart is and where memories are being made. Her husband, Scott, and her moved to Old Orchard Beach 5 years ago. When asked why, the answer has always been, “to create memories”. Their love for the ocean, combined with this small town community, has been the perfect fit for them. And, even though her dad and mom’s house will always be “home”, Old Orchard Beach is a place where new memories are being built and which they now proudly call “our home”.
Denise's favorite quote is:
"Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world"
- Marilyn Monroe
