Eleanor Dow - WHM - Women's History Month

Eleanor Dow was born in Boston MA, raised in North Quincy MA until 1949 then moved to China, ME.  She attended Erskine Academy, Colby College and Metropolitan State University. She married Robert Dow who was an American Baptist Minister and they were married for 62 years until his death.

Together they moved 11 times.  She has lived in MA, CT, CO, PA and has resided in Old Orchard Beach for the last 33 years.  She has 4 children, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She and Bob have traveled in all 50 states as well as many foreign countries.  

Eleanor was an avid seamstress making all her own and daughter’s clothing along with shirts for her 3 boys and husband.  She was a Realtor and appraiser for many years in MA before moving to Maine.

She is now active in 3 quilting groups, bowls weekly, paints, plays bridge and Mah Jongg.  She also serves on her local association board and is a member of Friends of Libby Library.  Over the years she has been active as Worthy Advisor in Rainbow Girls, church work alongside Bob and very active in all her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.  She also sings in the Temple choir in Ocean Park.

She feels very blessed to have lived such a wonderful and fulfilling life. She loves to laugh and have a good time with her many friends.

Eleanor Dow nasceu em Boston MA, cresceu em North Quincy MA até 1949 e depois se mudou para China, ME. Frequentou a Academia Erskine, o Colby College e a Metropolitan State University. Ela se casou com Robert Dow, que era Ministro da Igreja Batista Americana e eles foram casados por 62 anos até seu falecimento.

Juntos, eles se mudaram 11 vezes. Ela viveu em MA, CT, CO, PA e reside em Old Orchard Beach nos últimos 33 anos. Ela tem 4 filhos, 6 netos e 2 bisnetos. Ela e Bob viajaram em todos os 50 estados e em muitos países estrangeiros.

Eleanor era uma costureira ávida fazendo todas as roupas de sua filha e junto com camisas para seus três filhos e marido. Ela foi corretora de imóveis e avaliadora por muitos anos em MA antes de se mudar para o Maine.

Ela agora é ativa em 3 grupos de colchas, joga boliche toda semana, pinta, joga cartas e Mah Jongg. Ela também atua no conselho de associação local e é membro da Biblioteca Friends of Libby. Ao longo dos anos, ela tem atuado como Conselheira Digna em Rainbow Girls, trabalhando na igreja ao lado de Bob e muito ativa em todas as atividades de seus filhos e netos. Ela também canta no coro do Templo em Ocean Park, Maine.

Ela se sente muito abençoada por ter vivido uma vida tão maravilhosa e gratificante. Ela gosta de rir e se divertir com seus muitos amigos.
