Today, for the 29th day of the Women's History Month project, we are celebrating this beautiful woman
Meet, Jennifer Jubinsky, 32, wife, mother of 2 beautiful girls, dog lover, CRMA and getting ready for bachelors in Social Work.
“Rest but never quit. Even the sun has a sinking spell each evening. But it always rises the next morning. At sunrise, every soul is born again.” - Muhammad Ali
Jennifer Jubinsky was raised in her South Portland home with her mom, step dad, and sister. She also was raised in Old Orchard Beach with her dad. She attended South Portland schools until her sophomore year. She moved in with her dad and attended Old Orchard Beach high school. At 17, she was a mom to a beautiful little girl, Riley. She attended school and worked full time. Despite being a single mom her senior year, she still graduated on time with her class in 2008. In 2019 she got her associates in nutrition & dietetics and her associates in liberal studies in psychology. She is currently working on her bachelors in social work.
Jeni has always been a caring and compassionate person. She is always there for anyone in need, whether it is helping with projects or just a shoulder to cry on. She always knew that she wanted to do a job helping others. Her friend introduced her to working in an assisted living facility when she was 19. She started out as a PSS. After a few months she got put into the CRMA (Certified Residential Medication Aide) class. She has been taking care of the elderly for about 12 years. She loves to hear all the stories they tell and to help them when they need it.
Jeni has had some challenges that she has had to overcome in her life. Being a teen mom definitely had its challenges. She lost custody of her daughter for a little while, and fought tooth and nail to get her back. Jeni obtained full parental responsibilities when her daughter was 5. This was not the easiest time, but she learned a lot about herself during this process. Depression was always there lurking around the corner. There were several times that she had wanted to just give up. She fought with self-harm for a few years in her early teens. Perseverance is what got her through everything that has been bad in her life. She knew that no matter what the situation was, she had to work through it and the good would come. Music was also a good outlet to help her through the tough times.
In 2012, a lot of good things happened. She had her second beautiful little girl, Aubree, and met a man at work. Little did she know her life was going to completely change. In 2015 she married the love of her life, John. She not only gained a husband, she was blessed with two amazing stepchildren. They just bought a house in Gorham with a big yard. Her family is what she values most in life. She has 5 grandchildren that she loves spending time with. She is also an auntie to one nephew and two nieces.
Jeni loves taking her girls out to go swimming in different places during the summer. She really enjoys sunrises and sunsets, she tries to take a photo of them any chance she can. She also loves to bake and decorate cakes when she has spare time. She also enjoys playing video games with her friends and husband.
Advice for another women?
"Don’t let anyone tell you that you can't do something. If she had listened to people in saying that, then she would not be where she is today. It is also okay to make mistakes! That is how we learn and grow as a person."
Here is another one of Jeni's favorite quotes:
“So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday,
but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me...
everyday.”
― Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
