Today, for "Women's History Month", we are celebrating this fantastic lady
Meet Judy Lynn Gray, 70, wife, mother of 2 girls, happily retired...
Judy has had many roles assigned to her, daughter, student, wife, mother, minister’s wife, librarian, grandmother, friend, and most importantly, child of God. She has tried to give her whole self to each one. The struggle has been in balancing each of the roles and not becoming overwhelmed. But she appreciated that struggle and how it has helped shape her as a person.
She grew up at the Jersey Shore, close to the beach. The ocean and beach has always been important to her. It is the place she finds God and peace. She moved to Old Orchard Beach, Maine, 17 years ago and is thankful to live there and have that place available to feed her soul.
Right after college, she married the love of her life. This summer they will have been married for 50 years. She says it’s been quite the journey that has been sustained by love and the support to be the complete people they were meant to be.
She has two fabulous daughters, who are amazing women in their own right, says Judy. She appreciates how they are true to themselves and their families. They have bestowed the role of Gigi on her and she loves being a grandmother.
Professionally , Judy was a librarian at Greely High School for 25 years. It was a challenging role but she knew God had placed her there. She met some amazing teachers and friends there. She was truly blessed with that job.
Her life has always been involved in a church community. Her husband was a minister for 10 years and then after that they were involved in the life of different churches. It has always been fulfilling but not always easy. It was a way to work on her relationship with God, which has been an important role in her life.
Judy cherishes friendships. She often enjoys cooking but always love having people around the table to eat and share who they are. Reading and book clubs keep her busy as does singing in choirs. She appreciates being retired and the slower pace it sometimes gives her.
Kind words from Judy: "What fun it was to do a photo shoot with Renata for her Women’s History Month project. I appreciate that she wanted to celebrate women and thankful that I could participate."
One of Judy's favorite quotes:
"Love is something if you give it away, you end up having more"
