Meet Kiara De Los Santos, 24, model, environmentalist activist and passionate about fashion.
Kiara is from LA. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and moved to Biddeford in 2018 for college! Been in Maine ever since and she loves it here.
Kiara attended the University of New England and got her degree in Marine Affairs with a minor in Climate Change!
Kiara is looking to model full time, she owns her own business, Jetsetter Vintage and volunteers around the community.
Life Challenges:
Losing both my biological father and stepfather at a young age has been one of the most difficult challenges of my life. Growing up without them, I often compared my situation to that of my friends, making the loss even harder to process. My mom and I struggled to get by in LA, moving between apartments and hotel rooms—but through it all, I was raised with love, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.
Being so far from the rest of my family in the Philippines has been another challenge. From across the world, I’ve watched as my home country faces the increasing devastation of climate change—typhoons, floods, and displacement. Though I may be miles away, I do everything I can here in the U.S. to advocate for climate justice, knowing that every effort counts toward protecting the places and people we love.
Achievements:
Through my work of organizing beach cleanups, I was extremely honored to receive the 2022 Brookie Award which honors 6 young environmental change makers in Maine!
Kiara loves organizing community cleanups to pick up litter, she also has a passion for sustainable fashion! "I would love to be able to blend my passion for community gathering and event planning with my love for sustainability!" Says Kiara.
What do you value most in life?
Words of wisdom for other women:
Life is too short to worry about what other people think of you, live unapologetically!
Another one of 's Kiara's Favorite quotes:
from celebrity, you only learn from wounds and scars and mistakes and failures".
******
Thank you, Kiara, for sharing your story and empowering others!
