Today, for the 4th day of the "Women's History Month" project, I would like to share, once again, the story of this lovely lady
Nancy Eldredge (In Memory), 90, mother of two beautiful women, a sweet grandmother and a pet lover...
Nancy grew up in Massachusetts where she graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in 1951. This in itself was exceptional, as this was long before many women even attended college. She worked in a Boston bank named "State Street Trust," got married, and moved to New Hampshire where she raised her family.
Nancy became co-owner of an independent insurance agency, and with the help of her husband represented multiple insurance companies. She maintained her role as company treasurer, bookkeeper and manager of 14 employees, all while raising two daughters at home. In her spare time, Nancy was always incredibly active in her community- serving on committees and boards, and volunteering in the public school and church. After 26 years, she and her husband sold the agency and retired to Maine.
Nancy has enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. A talented seamstress, she recalls sewing many outfits for her two daughters when they were young, and now enjoys knitting in her spare time. She is an avid reader and member of a local book club, attends the theater regularly, and is a devoted gardener. She loves sports, and has played tennis and golf throughout her life, and now belongs to a bowling group with friends.
Nancy relishes family gatherings at her home in Ocean Park - with 5 grandchildren and extended family and pets- it's a full house, yet she adores them all!
Nancy is 90 years young, and has had an active and full life! She is truly an inspiration for us all!
Thank you, Nancy, for sharing your story. You were an inspiration to me and others!
Nancy was a good friend and one of the participants of the first WHM project in 2020. She passed away peacefully on January 17 of 2023 at the age of 93.
Dear Nancy, I miss our chats and laughs. You will be forever in our hearts!
