Today, for the "Women's History Month" Project, I would like to introduce to you this phenomenal woman
Brittany Dion, 32, mom of 7, wife, owner of Flipping Vintage Maine, podcast host, creator of goal diggers women’s group, dog mom.
Brittany grew up in the Old Orchard Beach/ Saco area where she was raised mostly by her Nana and Papa. Brittany's best childhood memories are spending time with her grandparents going apple picking, and family Disney trips. She graduated from Thornton Academy in 2007. After high school she wasn't sure on what she wanted to do when she "grew up" so she hopped into the workforce. She worked at a local car dealership in the service department and taught dance for several years. Dance has always been a huge passion for Brittany.
In 2009 she welcomed her oldest into the world, Parker James. Convinced he was a girl and that she would have a little ballerina, She had quite the shock when she found out he was a boy. Parker was her absolute world. She loved being a mom, every single part of it.
In July 2013 Blake was born, he tried so hard to join the world on his older brother's birthday but managed to hold off until the day after. Blakes stubbornness didn't stop there. Brittany says, He continues to be a strong willed boy proving someday he will run the world.
Last but not least, in 2016 her last book end was born. Landon Michael. His namesake is so dear to Brittany as he is named after her best friend Michael who passed away in 2010. Landon was born in February which is the month of love. Brittany describes Landon as a bright light, someone who is always smiling and full of pure innocent love.
Being a single mom was not easy. Brittany said she was tested in many different ways and some days wanted to give up. Her boys and her Nana were her strength on those tough days. Having children, you never imagine doing things on your own she said, that's never the plan. But sometimes things just don't work out and later you realize why.
In 2016 she met her husband Bobby. Bobby was Parker's football coach. Bobbys son Tre and Parker were also best friends. So after a few texts about the kids PJ day, the rest is history. Brittany gushes and says Bobby is so much more than a husband to her. He is her good morning, her goodnight, her life coach and biggest supporter. She said they just get each other. She also states, " He pushes me, and truly believes in me. I feel I can be the best I can be with Bobby by my side." On top of meeting her soulmate (after kissing a few frogs) she gained 4 step children. Tirza, her partner in crime, along with his 3 boys James, Tre and Carmine. They have become quite the blended family with 7 kids. Yes that's right 7 kids!. Bobby has now adopted Brittany's two youngest Landon and Blake. They have a beautiful home in Old Orchard and have everything the two of them have ever dreamed of. With lots of love, wrestling matches, food fights and everything else that comes along with having 7 kids.
Besides being a mom and step mom, you can usually find Brittany in her workshop. Brittany and her husband own a furniture refinishing/ interior decorating business. She opened it in 2014 and when she met her husband he was 100% on board with hopping in. Since they met they have grown Flipping Vintage tremendously. Always having a creative niche as a child, she loves that she now has a place to put her creativity to good use to use it to provide for her family. Brittany states everything she has learned about, building and repairing was taught to her by her late grandfather Real Savoy.
You can also catch Brittany online as she runs and created a women's group called "Goal Diggers". It's a women's support/ empowerment group that she runs with another female. Brittany states "We have a great growing group of women from all different walks of life where we offer advice, share stories, and build one another up". She also records a weekly podcast called Goal Diggers that has been so rewarding to create. She enjoys recording weekly podcasts for her group in hopes to help other women overcome things and give everyone a good laugh.
But when she is not recording, being a mom, or working you can find her at her kids sporting events with her cowbell or at her husbands men's league basketball games where she loves to go and cheer him on.
