Today, for the "Women's History Month" Project, you will meet this sweet and amazing young lady
Meet, Bethany Desrosiers, 19, artist, model, activist...
Bethany was born in Methuen, Massachusetts, but grew up in Central Maine with her three older sisters. While attending a private school for elementary and middle school, she was bullied to the point of leaving original education plans behind to find a safer environment.
She attended Maine Arts Academy for her high school career, where she became completely immersed within the arts. She was trained from the ground up, she taking acting, dance, and music classes as well as vocal lessons. While being heavily engaged with acting, she found a passion for women’s rights and activism. In collaboration with other students at Maine Arts Academy, she performed in Mary Mary, Askew, and Asch.
Alongside the arts, international exchange and culture has held a special place in her heart. She has been hosting exchange students since the age of 8, and it led her to work alongside Ayusa by Intrax during her junior year of high school. As a student ambassador, she helped house exchange students and helped them become accustomed to Maine culture. Summer of 2019, she went and spent 4 weeks in an intensive cultural exchange in Tokyo, Japan. She also volunteered and taught students English ranging from the ages of 6-17.
Combining the two passions for international travel and the arts, her passion is to be able to do acting and modeling internationally. Her original plans to travel to England for college were cancelled due to COVID-19. She then competed in Arts International Talent Showcase in Orlando, Florida in Monologue, TV Commercial, Film Scene, Creative Runway, Theme Runway, and Photography Runway. Stepping back from live theatre because of COVID-19, she completely reinvented herself as a performer and transitioned to film acting and modeling.
She attends University of Southern Maine in pursuit of a Tourism and Hospitality Bachelors Degree, and plans to travel to South Korea for a semester. Her future goals remain unchanged, but the journey to get there has become much different than originally planned. She is still pushing through to make her dream come to life.
